    Monday Feb 3, 2025 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM

    Move & Groove Mondays with Jess Reino. If you love Friday Fitness with Jess, you will love Move & Groove Monday..   We warm up and then get moving to some fun medium tempo music from your favorite artists.  We work on building strength using light weights as well as balance and coordination.  All movements can be done seated in a chair or standing.  Every class ends with a cool down, stretches and a smile.  Class starts at 10 AM. $5 per class or purchase an exercise card (10 classes for $30)

A hot lunch will be served from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with a suggest donation of $3 for seniors over 60 and $5 for everyone else.     February 3rd– Dreamgirls (2006) Deena (Beyoncé Knowles), Effie (Jennifer Hudson) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) form a music trio called the Dreamettes. When ambitious manager Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx) spots the act at a talent show, he offers the chance of a lifetime, to be backup singers for a national star (Eddie Murphy). Taylor takes creative control of the group and eventually pushes the singers into the spotlight. However, one becomes the star, forcing another out, which teaches them about the high cost of fame. Won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress– Jennifer Hudson.


    February 10th– Classic Comedy Hour– The Jeffersons(1975) Starts at 1:30pm after Trivia- "We're moving on up, to the East Side, to a deee-luxe apartment in the sky ... ." This spinoff from "All in the Family" is about literal upward mobility - African- American couple George and Louise Jefferson move into a swanky high-rise building. George is an obstreperous, often rude guy who thinks his wealth should get him anywhere he wants to go. His wife is more levelheaded and often cuts him down to size when his schemes go awry. Starring Sherman Hemsley & Isabel Sanford.

    February 24th– American Fiction (2023) Monk is a frustrated novelist who's fed up with the establishment that profits from Black entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, he uses a pen name to write an outlandish Black book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain. Starring Jeffrey Wright, Issa Rae, Sterling K. Brown & Tracee Ellis Ross. Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay)

    Due to popular demand, another exciting card game is coming to Tosh Collins! Join us for nickels (otherwise known as Nickel Nickel) on Monday afternoons. For those unfamiliar with the game, Nickels is similar to Rummy, with the twist of betting nickels. So bring in your nickel collection and come join us for another thrilling card games experience! The first game will be held on March 6, no reservations necessary.

    BETTER BODY BALANCE


    Better Body Balance for Seniors is a specialized fitness class designed to enhance the physical and mental well-being of older adults by focusing on improving their balance, stability, and overall body strength. This class is tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of seniors, helping them maintain an active and independent lifestyle. 


    Each session starts with a gentle warm-up, including light stretching and breathing exercises to prepare the body and mind. Some balance drills and specific exercises will be offered to challenge and improve balance. Light weights, or bodyweight exercises will be used to build strength in the legs, core, and upper body. Stretching routines are incorporated to maintain or improve flexibility, aiding in mobility and preventing muscle stiffness. 


    The class focuses on movements that mimic everyday activities, such as bending, reaching, and squatting, to enhance functional fitness. Each session concludes with a cool-down segment to gradually lower heart rate and prevent muscle soreness.

    The South Buffalo Community Association is proud to partner with the Pride Center of Western New York to bring a great new monthly event to the Tosh Collins Center.


    The Silver Pride Project


    The Silver Pride Project is a Pride Center initiative that’s all about creating better conversations and improved social engagement with our older members of the LGBTQ+ community. By understanding people’s experiences we can facilitate greater social connectivity, improve social inclusion and evolve services to meet the needs of our LGBTQ+ elders.


    LGBTQ+ Seniors Coffee Hour


    Also known as the Silver Pride Coffee Hour, is an opportunity for LGBTQ+ seniors to come together and enjoy a morning of refreshments and conversation. Tosh Collins will begin hosting this monthly event on Friday June 10th from 10am-Noon and will meet the 2nd Friday of every month.

    Move & Groove Mondays with Jess Reino. If you love Friday Fitness with Jess, you will love Move & Groove Monday..   We warm up and then get moving to some fun medium tempo music from your favorite artists.  We work on building strength using light weights as well as balance and coordination.  All movements can be done seated in a chair or standing.  Every class ends with a cool down, stretches and a smile.  Class starts at 10 AM. $5 per class or purchase an exercise card (10 classes for $30)

A hot lunch will be served from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, with a suggest donation of $3 for seniors over 60 and $5 for everyone else.     February 3rd– Dreamgirls (2006) Deena (Beyoncé Knowles), Effie (Jennifer Hudson) and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose) form a music trio called the Dreamettes. When ambitious manager Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx) spots the act at a talent show, he offers the chance of a lifetime, to be backup singers for a national star (Eddie Murphy). Taylor takes creative control of the group and eventually pushes the singers into the spotlight. However, one becomes the star, forcing another out, which teaches them about the high cost of fame. Won Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress– Jennifer Hudson.


    February 10th– Classic Comedy Hour– The Jeffersons(1975) Starts at 1:30pm after Trivia- "We're moving on up, to the East Side, to a deee-luxe apartment in the sky ... ." This spinoff from "All in the Family" is about literal upward mobility - African- American couple George and Louise Jefferson move into a swanky high-rise building. George is an obstreperous, often rude guy who thinks his wealth should get him anywhere he wants to go. His wife is more levelheaded and often cuts him down to size when his schemes go awry. Starring Sherman Hemsley & Isabel Sanford.

    February 24th– American Fiction (2023) Monk is a frustrated novelist who's fed up with the establishment that profits from Black entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, he uses a pen name to write an outlandish Black book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain. Starring Jeffrey Wright, Issa Rae, Sterling K. Brown & Tracee Ellis Ross. Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay)

    Due to popular demand, another exciting card game is coming to Tosh Collins! Join us for nickels (otherwise known as Nickel Nickel) on Monday afternoons. For those unfamiliar with the game, Nickels is similar to Rummy, with the twist of betting nickels. So bring in your nickel collection and come join us for another thrilling card games experience! The first game will be held on March 6, no reservations necessary.

    BETTER BODY BALANCE


    Better Body Balance for Seniors is a specialized fitness class designed to enhance the physical and mental well-being of older adults by focusing on improving their balance, stability, and overall body strength. This class is tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of seniors, helping them maintain an active and independent lifestyle. 


    Each session starts with a gentle warm-up, including light stretching and breathing exercises to prepare the body and mind. Some balance drills and specific exercises will be offered to challenge and improve balance. Light weights, or bodyweight exercises will be used to build strength in the legs, core, and upper body. Stretching routines are incorporated to maintain or improve flexibility, aiding in mobility and preventing muscle stiffness. 


    The class focuses on movements that mimic everyday activities, such as bending, reaching, and squatting, to enhance functional fitness. Each session concludes with a cool-down segment to gradually lower heart rate and prevent muscle soreness.

    Looking for a quieter practice?  This class is for you. Jessie will guide you through some gentle, chair based movement focused on connecting the breath and the body.  This will be followed by a short guided relaxation and Jessie will finish the class by guiding you through a themed meditation.  This practice can help ease anxiety and stress.  Increase focus, positive feelings and improve overall mood.     6:00 PM Arrive at Gardens and Tour Orchids

    tomatoes, Greek dressing, dinner roll, strawberry ice cream, milk.


    For this trip, we will not be chartering a bus. There will only be limited seats on Wayne’s bus for those who
